FAQs

What is an infusion room?

An infusion room is a private room where a patient spends half or all of a day in a recliner chair while they receive their chemotherapy or other treatments in the Oncology Center.

Why did LMH choose to have private infusion rooms?

Infusion rooms are an integral part of LMH treatment philosophy. Patients still have the opportunity to interact and meet other patients in the lobby or hallways, but the majority of the time can be spent in a more private setting. It allows for confidentiality regarding treatments, education about treatments, and exams. The private rooms allow patients to spend quality time with those important to them. It also allows those loved ones to participate in patients care and to offer invaluable support. Some hospitals have "group" treatment rooms, where 10 or more patients are treated in the same room, and it does not allow the same quality time for patients and families offered by the private rooms.

How many patients use the infusion rooms per month?

On average about 1500 patients utilize these private spaces.

What kind of an impact would renovating the rooms have on the patients?

Renovating/updating the treatment rooms could help to promote relaxation and decrease anxiety as well as patient-centric and calming. A fresh appearing environment can be uplifting. LMH Oncology provides care that is personalized and they offer state of the art care in a family like atmosphere.
